This
site is dedicated to sharing the truth of both the Old Testament
and New Testament through the amazing verse found in Isaiah 53 which
fortells the sacrifice and crucifixion of the coming messiah, Jesus
Christ. The Old Testament looks to the cross, the New Testament
looks back at the cross. |

| Isaiah 50:6
I offered my back to those who beat me, my cheeks to those who pulled
out my beard;
I did not hide my face
from mocking and spitting.
Isaiah 52:13
The Suffering and Glory of the Servant. See, my servant will act
wisely; he will be raised and lifted up and highly exalted. Just
as there were many who were appalled at him - his appearance was
so disfigured beyond that of any man and his form marred beyond
human likeness- so will he sprinkle many nations, and kings will
shut their mouths because of him.
For what they were not told, they will see, and what they have not
heard, they will understand.

Jesus Christ, the
Messiah, the Savior of all mankind, was whipped, beaten and nailed
to the cross for our sins. His blood alone could pay for our sins
against God. |
Matthew 26:67
They spit in his face and struck him with their fists.
John 5:24
"I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him
who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed
over from death to life.
John 19:18-20
Here they crucified him, and with him two others--one on each side
and Jesus in the middle.
Pilate had a notice prepared and fastened to the cross. It read:
JESUS OF NAZARETH, THE KING OF THE JEWS. Many of the Jews read this
sign, for the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city,
and the sign was written in Aramaic, Latin and Greek.

| Isaiah
53
Who has believed our message and to whom has the arm
of the LORD been revealed? He grew up before him like
a tender shoot, and like a root out of dry ground. He
had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing
in his ppearance that we should desire him. He was despised
and rejected by men, a man of sorrows, and familiar
with suffering. Like one from whom men hide their faces
he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
|
Jesus didn't come
as a king or a mighty warrior, but as a humble servant and teacher
or rabbi. |
1 Corinthians 1:18
For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing,
but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
Philippians 2:8
And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became
obedient to death– even death on a cross! |
Surely
he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows,
yet we considered him stricken by God, smitten by him,
and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions,
he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that
brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds
we are healed.
We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has
turned to his own way;
and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of
us all.
 |
Jesus Christ was
pierced or nailed to the cross. We are all sinners in need of the
forgiveness that is extended to us through the simple belief that
God loves us and sent His one and only Son to die in our place on
the cross, as payment for all the wrong that we've done.
From Matthew 26:26 we read that on the first day
of the Feast of Unleavened Bread Jesus told his disciples, "Go
into the city to a certain man and tell him, 'The Teacher says:
My appointed time is near. I am going to celebrate the Passover
with my disciples at your house.' " While they were eating,
Jesus took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to his disciples,
saying, "Take and eat; this is my body."
Then he took the cup, gave thanks and offered it to them, saying,
"Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the covenant,
which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.
Take notice that Jesus called the Unleavened Bread
his "body"...now take a close look at the unleavened bread
used during the Passover meal (Seder) today, and read Isaiah 53
again. His body was pierced (like the Matzoh bread) and we are healed
by his stripes (wounds). Its no coincidence that the Matzoh cracker
is both pierced and striped.

|
He was oppressed and afflicted,
yet he did not open his mouth; he was led like a lamb
to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers
is silent, so he did not open his mouth. By oppression
and judgment he was taken away. And who can speak of
his escendants?
For he was cut off from the land of the living; for
the transgression of my people he was stricken.
He was assigned a grave with the wicked, and with the
rich in his death, though he had done no violence, nor
was any deceit in his mouth. |
Jesus is the Lamb
of God. The perfect sacrifice, unlike any other. He literally died
on the cross and his body was laid to rest in a tomb. On the 3rd
day Jesus rose from the dead, having conquered death. 50 days later
he ascended to heaven, where he now sits on the throne at the right
hand of God. |
John 19:41-42
At the place where Jesus was crucified, there was a garden, and
in the garden a new tomb, in which no one had ever been laid. Because
it was the Jewish day of Preparation and since the tomb was nearby,
they laid Jesus there |
Yet it was the LORD's will to
crush him and cause him to suffer, and though the LORD
makes his life a guilt offering, he will see his offspring
and prolong his days, and the will of the LORD will
prosper in his hand. After the suffering of his soul,
he will see the light of life and be satisfied; by his
knowledge my righteous servant will justify many,
and he will bear their iniquities. Therefore I will
give him a portion among the great, and he will divide
the spoils with the strong, because he poured out his
life unto death, and was numbered with the transgressors.
For he bore the sin of many, and made intercession for
the transgressors. |
Isaiah describes
this suffering servant as a literal sacrifice or guilt offering
acceptible to the Lord. Nowhere else in the history of the Bible
has a man been a sacrifice for God.
Those who know Jesus through faith that he is who
he said he was, the Son of God, will be justified.
Jesus will share his inheritance from God, everlasting
Life in Heaven, with those who trust in Him.
The only way to God the Father is through the Son,
Jesus Christ. |

Zechariah
12:10-14
And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of
Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplication. |
Written around 520 B.C.
|
|
| They will look on me,
the one they have pierced, and they will mourn for him
as one mourns for an only child, and grieve bitterly
for him as one grieves for a firstborn son. |
Jesus Christ, the
only begotten Son of God, was nailed to the cross to die for your
sins. |
John 19:33-37
But when they came to Jesus and found that he was already dead,
they did not break his legs. Instead, one of the soldiers pierced
Jesus' side with a spear, bringing a sudden flow of blood and water.
The man who saw it has given testimony, and his testimony is true.
He knows that he tells the truth, and he testifies so that you also
may believe. These things happened so that the scripture would be
fulfilled: "Not one of his bones will be broken," and,
as another scripture says, "They will look on the one they
have pierced." |
On that day the weeping in Jerusalem
will be
great, like the weeping of Hadad Rimmon in the plain of Megiddo.
The land will mourn, each clan by itself, with their wives by themselves:
the clan of the house of David and their wives, the clan of the
house of Nathan and their wives, the clan of the house of Levi and
their wives, the clan of Shimei and their wives, and all the rest
of the clans and their wives.
Zechariah 13:6
And one shall say unto him, What are these wounds in thine hands?
Then he shall answer, Those with which I was wounded in the house
of my friends.

Colossians 1:19-21
For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through
him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth
or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on
the cross. |

| Psalm
22:1
My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?
Psalm 22:14-18
I am poured out like water,
and all my bones are out of joint. My heart has turned
to wax; it has melted away within me. My strength is
dried up like a potsherd, and my tongue sticks to the
roof of my mouth;
you lay me in the dust of death. Dogs
have surrounded me; a band of evil men has encircled
me, they have pierced my hands and my feet.
I can count all my bones; people stare and gloat over
me. They divide my garments among them and cast lots
for my clothing. |
The Spirit of Christ, which spoke through
the prophets, testifies in this Psalm by David.
The crucifixion of Jesus, a descendant
of David through his mother's lineage, is described
as his bones are out of joint, his mouth is dry or he
is silent like 'a lamb led to slaughter'.
The Jews never used crucifixion as a
method of death, yet here it is described in detail,
as it was to be carried out according to God's will
by the Romans in Jerusalem hundreds of years in the
future from the time the 22nd Psalm was first written.
The main objection to the translation
of this scripture revolves around the word 'PIERCE'.
In the Hebrew Massoretic text, in Psalm 22 the word
'caari which when translated from the Jewish Bible reads
'Like a lion' they are at my hands and my feet'. However
in the 3rd century B.C.E. translation into Greek of
The Septuagint ( the Hebrew Old Testament,) designated
the word 'carri' as 'carru' which means 'to pierce.'
This proves that 250 years before Jesus crucifiction,
the Rabbis were translating this word as 'pierced'.

Mark
15:34
And at the ninth hour Jesus cried out in a loud voice,
"Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?"–which
means, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?"[
John 19:32-37
The soldiers therefore came and broke the legs of the
first man who had been crucified with Jesus, and then
those of the other. But when they came to Jesus and
found that he was already dead, they did not break his
legs. Instead, one of the soldiers pierced Jesus' side
with a spear, bringing a sudden flow of blood and water.
The man who saw it has given testimony, and his testimony
is true. He knows that he tells the truth, and he testifies
so that you also may believe. These things happened
so that the scripture would be fulfilled: "Not
one of his bones will be broken,"and, as another
scripture says, "They will look on the one they
have pierced."[
John 19:23-24
When the soldiers crucified Jesus, they took his clothes,
dividing them into four shares, one for each of them,
with the undergarment remaining. This garment was seamless,
woven in one piece from top to bottom.
"Let's not tear it," they said to one another.
"Let's decide by lot who will get it."
This happened that the scripture might be fulfilled
which said, "They divided my garments among them
and cast lots for my clothing."So this is what
the soldiers did.

There is much controversey over 'who killed Jesus'
in anticipation of the release of Mel Gibson's film
'The Passion'. Sadly, this is a distraction from the
actual message of Salvation for mankind. The truth is
that we all killed Jesus, since he died for OUR
SINS, yours and mine included. Other than proving
that Jesus is the Son of God via the fullfilment of
prophecy, the matter of who was responsible for Jesus'
crucifixion (the Jews or the Romans) is hardly important
to the message of John 3:16, that "whoever believes
in him shall not perish but have eternal life."
We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has
turned to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him
the iniquity of us all. . . For he was cut off from
the land of the living; for the transgression of my
people he was stricken.
Isaiah 53:6-8
He was delivered over to death for our sins and was
raised to life for our justification.
Romans 4:25
